The Taming of the Shrew

Kings Park, West Perth

From Sat 9th Jan

The 2010 season of William Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew in Kings Park & Botanic Garden marks the second production for Western Australia’s new classical theatre company, Shakespeare WA. After 10 years absence, the Bard’s ever-popular battle of the sexes will make a welcome return to this perfect Perth setting under the direction of international Shakespearean, Paige Newmark.

Last year’s Shakespeare in the Park production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream was hailed “a joy to watch” and “it’s a Dream come true” by Sarah McNeill in The Post, while Jan Hallam in The Sunday Times raved that “it is an absolute pleasure from start to finish” and “you will ache with laughter and cry from joy.”

This year, Newmark will be recreating his hilarious 1960’s style production of Shrew that was applauded as “a sexy, inventive and ultimately brash version of The Taming of the Shrew that, at long last, suggests a forward-looking, innovative stance.” This play is certain to delight Western Australian audiences of all ages. Book now to avoid disappointment!
